Elements and Principles of Art

Description: For this project, we made a presentation that captured the elements and principles of art. The requirements were take we had to take photos that portrayed each of the twelve elements and principles. Attached are my five favorite photos that I took, and chose to use for this project.

Extension: An extension activity that I could do with my students when teaching emphasis is having them create a poster in class. This could be a safety poster for the classroom, hand washing, event poster, or just a creative drawing. The purpose would be for them to create dominance and focus in their work. I would show the students different examples of emphasis they may have seen in the past, and I would show them a poster that I created as well.

Space- Here is a picture that I took at Mount Rushmore. You can see that it is showing dimension, as some of the facing are farther back.

Value- This is a picture of my shadow, and it is showing light to dark.

Contrast- Here is a picture of my ice cream cone, and it is showing opposite elements such as light vs dark.

Emphasis- This is a picture of the out side of my High School, the letter that are lit up are contrasting against the outside and catching your eye.

Pattern- This is a picture of a brick wall from in a building at Northern. The bricks are repeating creating a pattern.
