Thanksgiving Beadwork
Description: This lesson was taught by Maggie Meland. The project was focused on patterns and we created patterns using beads to create a corn cob and we used patterns to create a placemat. We were required to have 2 different types of patterns on our corn cob, and 2 different patterns on our placemats that we colored. Maggie did a nice job of teaching about the people who does beaded work, and walked us through how to string our beads onto pipe cleaners to create the corn cob. Then we glued a plate on the placemat and colored a pattern design on the paper.
Extension Activity: An extension activity that I would do with a beaded bead work would be a math lesson. I would have this activity for a 1st grade classroom when we first introduce different patterns before we start working with number patterns.
